QuickBooks Online makes finding transactions quick and easy with the search function.
Note: If you need to find transactions in a register, seeĀ Find a transaction in the Register. |
Search for transactions using the magnifying glass #
- Select theĀ Magnifying Glass.
- Enter the date, amount, or transaction number youāre looking for, then select the desired transaction.
- If the transaction you’re looking for does not appear on the results list, selectĀ Advanced Search.
- Adjust the filters to find the type of data you want. For example, use the following filters to find all transactions from the past 30 days with a value of $100.
- ChangeĀ Reference no.Ā toĀ Last Modified Date.
- ChangeĀ TodayĀ toĀ Past 30 Days.
- SelectĀ Search. This should give you a list of transactions that meet your filter criteria.
- Narrow the list by changingĀ Last Modified DateĀ toĀ Amount. ChooseĀ EqualsĀ from the second ā¼ drop-down menu, then typeĀ 100.
- SelectĀ Add Filter.

Search for transactions by customer name, vendor name, and transaction type #
Search by Customer Name #
- Go toĀ Sales, then selectĀ Customers.
- Select a customer to view the transactions.
Search by Vendor Name #
- Go toĀ Expenses, then selectĀ Vendors.
- Select a vendor to view the transactions.
Search by Transaction Type (Sales) #
- Go toĀ Sales, then selectĀ All Sales.
- Select theĀ FilterĀ ā¼ drop-down menu.
- From the Type ā¼ drop-down menu, choose your desired transaction type, then selectĀ Apply.
Search by Transaction Type (Expense) #
- Go toĀ Expenses, then selectĀ Expenses.
- Select theĀ FilterĀ ā¼ drop-down menu.
- From the Type ā¼ drop-down menu, choose your desired transaction type, then selectĀ Apply.
Tip: You can select a column header to sort the list by type, date, and amount for each of these transaction types. |
Now you can find your transactions.
