Connect Bill.com to get bills into QuickBooks Online Advanced

Learn how to send and sync bills between both programs.

If you use the Bill.com app, you can connect it to QuickBooks Online Advanced and quickly export bills. Whenever you create a new bill in Bill.com, it sends a copy over to QuickBooks. Your accounts and changes stay synced in both programs. Here’s how to set everything up and get Bill.com bills into QuickBooks.

Step 1: Connect to Bills.com #

If you haven’t already, subscribe to Bill.com. You need a Bill.com subscription to connect and use the app. When you’re ready to connect:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online Advanced as an admin.
  2. Go to the Apps menu.
  3. Search for the Bill.com app and select Get app now.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps. In the Bill.com sign-in window, sign in as an admin. Then select Allow to connect.

Fix connection errors #

If Bill.com disconnects from QuickBooks, don’t worry. Just follow the steps again to reconnect.

Step 2: Sync your bills #

After you connect, you’re ready to go. You can sync bills you create in Bill.com and send them to QuickBooks any time:

  1. Sign in to Bill.com
  2. Go to the Unpaid Bills tab.
  3. Select the Sync button and then Sync now.

Bill.com sends copies of new bills to QuickBooks so you don’t have to create them twice. Tip: You’ll see a message about your last sync at the top of the unpaid bill list.

Step 3: Jump to bills in Bill.com #

If you’re working in QuickBooks and want to see more info about a bill, all you have to do is select a link to jump to the original bill in Bill.com:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Advanced, go to the Expenses menu.
  2. Select the Expenses tab.
  3. Look for and open a bill.
  4. Select the View in Bill.com link.

This opens Bill.com in a new browser tab. Here you can review the details and make edits.

Tip: You can also go to the Vendor tab and open vendor profile that the bill is for. Select the ▼ dropdown in the Action column and and then View in Bill.com.

Step 4: Review bills in QuickBooks #

After sync your bills from Bill.com, review them just like any other bill in QuickBooks. When you update bills QuickBooks, the info is also updates back to the originals in Bill.com
