Remove sales tax rate

Learn how to make a sales tax rate inactive.

QuickBooks Online allows you to remove a sales tax rate if you no longer use it. Note that removing a tax rate won’t delete it completely to make sure your reports remain accurate. We’ll show you how to do it.

Remove a sales tax rate #

  1. From the left menu, select Taxes or Sales Tax.
  2. Choose Add/edit tax rates and agencies.
  3. Pick the tax rate you want to remove and select Deactivate.
  4. Select Continue to deactivate the tax code.

To reactivate the tax code at any time, simply clear the Make Inactive checkbox and select Save.
