About the role…

The System Administrator is responsible for documenting, supporting, installing, and upgrading Precise Business Solutions computer systems. This individual will analyze and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. A thorough understanding of Windows, Linux, storage systems, and virtualization technologies is a must. This position supports critical services and systems in a production environment, so good judgment and attention to detail are essential. Providing quality customer service is important for this role. This requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and document mission critical server hardware and software including Linux, Windows, Active Directory, Exchange Server & O365, SharePoint, VMWare, and others.
  • Manage Nimble storage & VMWare infrastructure.
  • Backup and recovery for servers, replication, etc. Disaster recovery planning
  • Develop documentation for systems, operating instructions and implement standards and procedures.
  • Manage servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Conduct research on services, hardware, software and standards. Continually learn and be able to provide recommendations on future technology initiatives.
  • Manage and document assets, hardware and software licenses, upgrades and warranties for server systems and desktops.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Understand security issues, perform security audits, endpoint protection, OS and firmware patches and work with Network Engineers to ensure security.
  • Troubleshoot complex software and hardware related problems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and provide emergency coverage for mission-critical, 24/7/365 environment.
  • Responsible for the continued operation including site redundancy.
  • Provide end-user support for applications and infrastructure platforms (desktop and remote).
  • MacOS and Apple hardware experience a plus.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in deploying, upgrading and operating VMware.
  • Deep technical knowledge of server technology; VMWare, Nimble, Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Cisco UCS, and others.
  • Knowledge and experience with AWS technologies and services including EC2, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with infrastructure management using CloudFormation / Terraform.
  • Experience working on multiple, complex projects simultaneously is required.
  • Advanced experience with common business application technologies (SQL, IIS, SharePoint, Terminal Services).
  • Experience with SAN’s, Nimble preferred.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with networking a plus; routing, switching, firewalls, VPN and security configurations on Cisco and Meraki devices.

Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
